Transfer update : Theo Walcott join Everton

Image
It’s looking more and more likely that his five minute spell at Bournemouth last weekend was Theo Walcott’s last appearance for the club.  After emerging as the favorite to land Arsenal’s current longest-serving player over the last few days, Everton are apparently close to completing the signing, according to The Guardian. The Mirror’s John Cross seems confident of the transfer as well. It’s hard to blame Walcott for wanting out - he’s made just six appearances in the Premier League this season, all as a substitute. As he enters the final stage of his career, a fresh start makes sense. This became especially apparent once it was clear he didn’t factor into Arsene Wenger’s plans recently, despite Arsenal’s desperate need for pace and width, as well as some brief returns to a more traditional 4-2-3-1 formation better suited for Walcott’s skill set. With rumors buzzing of new signings up front, it’s easy for Walcott’s departure to beovershadowed.

Kane became Tottenham's all-time goalscorer against Everton

Image
Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham beat Everton to one side at Wembley on Saturday, writing his name into the record books in the process. Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen got the other goals as Mauricio Pochettino's side ran out 4-0 winners. Saturday’s evening kick off looked like an intriguing affair but it turned very one-sided very quickly at the national stadium. Spurs dominated possession from the outset and went close when Son Heung-Min flicked a header just wide following Christian Eriksen’s free kick from the left. Everton had a handful of openings themselves in the early knockings of the game, only to fade badly later on. Wayne Rooney fired wide after latching onto debutant Cenk Tosun’s flick-on, before the former England striker had a close range header correctly disallowed for offside. Harry Kane was a threat throughout and twice forced visiting goalkeeper Jordan Pickford into saves before the hosts took the lead. ...

Transfer update : Cenk Tosun join Everton

Cenk Tosun has been challenged with helping to solve Everton's lack of Premier League goals after joining from Besiktas.  Everton have moved to alleviate their goalscoring problems by completing the signing of Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun on a four-and-a-half-year-deal.  The 26-year-old Turkey international, capped 25 times for his country, revealed that the eagerness shown by manager Sam Allardyce and by the Club to secure his arrival at Goodison proved persuasive in his decision-making.  "It feels great to be an Everton player,” Tosun told Evertontv. “I’m really happy to be here and happy that everything is done. I’m really excited to play for Everton as soon as possible. Everton is a great club with a big history and a big culture and I’m looking forward to showing the fans the kind of player I am.  “I bring my skills here and everybody is going to see what kind of player I am. I believe I can be a good player in the Premier League for Everton. “The Pre...

New year, New united as Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard break United's festive draw diet

Image
The New Year's Day win lifted United back into second place in the table, above Chelsea and, for 24 hours at least, to within 12 points of runaway Premier League leaders Manchester Cit y. Martial capped a spell of United pressure early in the second half by shooting his side in front after Paul Pogba had found him in space 20 yards from goal. The striker took a controlling touch before producing a brilliant right-foot finish that flew into the top right corner of the Everton goal. It was a much-improved second half showing from United and one capped by a superb individual goal from Lingard that settled the outcome 10 minutes from time.  After Luke Shaw won possession from an Everton throw-in, Pogba slipped through a pass which Lingard accepted, weaving his way through the midfield to the edge of the area before depositing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Everton, seeking to bounce back from the first defeat of Sam Allardyce's reign, had made a promising st...
