FA  Cup fourth round tie between Liverpool and West Brom at Anfield.   Liverpool:  Jurgen Klopp looks set to be without a trio of players for this one. Adam Lallan has suffered an injury setback, whilst Ragnar Klavan and James Milner also look set to miss out through illness and a dead leg respectively. Nathaniel Clyne is thought to be making good progress as he recovers form a back problem but he is still not training with the rest of the squad. Captain Jordan Henderson is back in training and could get the nod in this one, whilst Dejan Lovren is also back available. Simon Mignolet will be given the chance to stake his claim between the sticks.   West Brom:    The 'Baggies' are thought to be suffering after a flu bug swept through their camp, with Ben Foster, Ahmed Hegazi, Gareth McAuley, Jay Rodriguez, Sam Field and James McClean are all struggling to be fit for the game, meaning the likes of Boaz Myhill, Oliver Burke and Hal Robson-Kanu....

Chelsea V Arsenal - Preview and potential lineups

Image
We take a look ahead today Carabao Cup semi-final first leg match between Chelsea and Arsenal from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea: Eden Hazard should be fit for the game after overcoming a calf injury, but new signing Ross Barkley will miss out as he continues his comeback from hamstring surgery. David Luis is avail once again after making his comeback in the FA Cup draw with Norwich at the weekend. Arsenal:  Arsene Wenger will once again watch from the stands as his touchline ban continues and the Frenchman will be without Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud, who are all sidelined through injury. Ozil's absence means that Alexis Sanchez is expected to start, despite Manchester City having tabled a fresh bid for the Chilean. The hero Aguero save Manchester City from Bristol City by 2 - 1

Image
A commendable performance from the visitors saw them heartbroken as Sergio Aguero nodded home in stoppage time to give City a slender advantage for the return fixture. Bristol had worked very hard to get a draw and the result still leaves the tie very much open.  With such displays it is certainly within the realm of possibility that Bristol City will be visiting this stadium as a Premier League equal next season, and a record-breaking 8,000 travelling fans made the trip up north for the clash, making it the largest away following at the Etihad since it opened. In the Carabao Cup, the Robins are looking to reach their first major final since 1909 and City stood in their way in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, with the side managed by Lee Johnson looking to go back to Ashton Gate with something to cling onto. An away goal and a feeling that they tested the runaway Premier League leaders will spur them on as they try to replicate...

The FA Cup Fourth Round draw Liverpool v West Brom, Yeovil Town v Manchester United, Newport County v Tottenham

Image
Manchester United will head to Yeovil Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup, while Newport County host Tottenham at Rodney Parade. Newport County have been handed ahome draw in the fourth round of the FA Cup, facing Tottenham at Rodney Parade, while last season's beaten finalists Chelsea will host Newcastle United if they get through a replay with Norwich City. Manchester United travel to League Two side Yeovil Town in a repeat of a third-round tie that United won in the 2014-15 season, with Premier League leaders Manchester City set to head to either Cardiff City or Mansfield Town.  Liverpool host Premier League opposition in the form of West Brom and Coventry City's reward for knocking out Stoke City is a trip to MK Dons. There is one other guaranteed all-Premier League tie as Watford travel to Southampton, with matches set to be played over the weekend of January 27.   FA...

Lichaj gave Nottingham Forest victory against Arsenal

Image
FA Cup is well known for its magic and Nottingham Forest fans must have been shellshocked to see their side take the lead for the second time against Arsenal on Sunday, courtesy of a stunning strike from defender Eric Lichaj. The Tricky Trees' initially went ahead with 20 minutes on the clock as Lichaj found the net, only for Per Mertesacker to level things just three minutes later. The home fans needn't have worried though, as right-back Lichaj restored Forest's lead a minute before half time with a fine volley. Mertesacker could only head a cross clear as far as the American, who took a touch before volleying past David Ospina and into the top corner with the outside of his right foot. Such was the quality of the goal that we could be talking about it for some time to come.

Aguero goal keeps Man City's FA Cup hopes alive

Image
Manchester City kept alive their chances of winning four trophies this season, coming back from a goal down to beat Burnley 4-1 in the FA Cup third round on Saturday with two goals from Sergio Aguero.  The Argentine striker helped rescue the tie for Pep Guardiola's team after they trailed to Ashley Barnes's first-half opener for their Premier League rivals. But the equaliser, in the 56th minute, was not without controversy as Ilkay Gundogan's quickly taken free-kick caught Burnley unprepared and played Aguero clean in on goal for City's all-time leading scorer to complete a routine finish.  That led to a furious reaction from Burnley players, who clearly felt the free-kick had been taken too quickly and Guardiola and his opposite number Sean Dyche became embroiled in an angry argument with the fourth official and each other. That row was still ongoing when Aguero claimed a brilliant second, playing a pass to Gundogan, who back-heeled the ball cleverly back to ...

Virgil Van Dijk revels in 'dream' Liverpool debut

Image
Virgil van Dijk was ecstatic to mark his "dream" Liverpool debut with the winning goal in Friday's FA Cup triumph over rivals Everton.  The world's most expensive defender, who completed his move from Southampton for £75million this month, headed in the winner six minutes from time to settle a fiery Merseyside derby at Anfield. He had earlier seen a similar chance go begging as he nodded into the arms of Jordan Pickford, but was left beaming with joy at the end as his late intervention made it 2-1. "What a night," the Dutchman told BBC Sport. "It was thoroughly deserved, it felt amazing to be out there. The goal is very special for me and my family. "Playing at Anfield for Liverpool is a dream for every player. To score a goal is even more special." Derby debut. Late winner. Scores in front of the Kop. pic.twitter.com/gVLG3VBnat — Liverpool FC (@LFC) January 5, 2018 James Milner, who put the hosts 1-0 up from the spot afte...
